Jempson’s have been baking bread and making delectable cakes and pastries since 1935. We started as a village bakery and our in-store bakery combines that experience and tradition with state of the art technology, standards of hygiene and the finest ingredients.
Everything we sell is preparred and baked daily in full view of our customers (with the exception of the wrapped long life bread).
Weekly we run a ‘Bakery Workshop’ led by Arthur, our award winning Master Baker. You be able to observe Arthur at work, as he produces bread from scratch with proven, traditional skills used by Grandpa Jempson followed by Julie Goldsmith, our confectioner who will share with you some of her skills into the craft of cake decoration.
The demonstrations last for approximately 2 hours and are followed by a famous Jempson’s homemade jam doughnut with coffee in our restaurant. These workshops are continually popular with customers of all ages, so pre-booking is essential.
We have also introduced a ‘Baker for the Day’ course where you’ll join Arthur at work and participate in the day’s bread production. You will be shown by Arthur the principles of bread making plus the techniques involved in this specialist task.
A minimum of 2 people is required for each course, and the day will include a complimentary lunch in our restaurant.
For further information on both our Bakery Workshops or Baker for the Day please telephone us on 01797 230 214 alternatively you can download our Bakery Tour Leaflet here. Book now to avoid disappointment!
Whatever else you do when you visit our superstore, do include the bakery.
