Consumer confidence has been shaken recently by the discovery of horsemeat in products and mislabelled products in several major retailers. The element of trust is crucial for any business. 

Hasty statements have been made by big retailers about winning back this trust, but here at Jempson’s we have always been committed to purchasing from local and sustainable sources.

To be precise…

Fresh Beef

Is always supplied from within the UK, and most of the time from farms in Kent & Sussex. We also buy in whole carcase, cut, prepare and pack in store on a daily basis. So we know what’s in the packs.

Fresh Lamb

Again 100% from the UK, within a few months we source 90% from local farms in Kent – particularly on the Romney Marsh

Fresh Pork

100% British – all year round

Poultry

Whole birds are British & Red Tractor approved

Beefburgers (Homemade Fresh & Frozen)

We make them in-store on our Butchery Counter from 100% fresh beef

Sausages

Made in-store by hand from British pork all year round. Flavours include Old Dubliner, Very Spicey, Venison, Wild Boar, Beef, Lamb & Mint and Traditional amongst many others.

Our traditional GT Jempson variety won an award in 2012.

Traceability

All our fresh meat products are fully traceable back to source or commonly referred to ‘From Farm to Plate’.

That’s it really. Nothing has changed. It’s what we’ve been doing for years !

Our Fresh & Local Meat is available at the Peasmarsh Superstore, Jempson’s Budgens supermarkets Battle, Hawkhurst & Rye and coming soon… Wadhurst !

Foundation Donation to Creative Bexhill CIC

Our charitable trust The Jempson Foundation has contributed £300 to the Creative Bexhill Community Interest Company.

The mission of CB CIC is to provide creative activities to the Wellbeing community in Bexhill, Rother District and elsewhere. Among the activities they provided are music workshops, yoga, pottery and theatre workshops.

Andrew Voyce from CB CIC said ‘We are very grateful to the Jempson Foundation for their support, our sessions encourage individuals to improve their health and wellbeing and this contribution will make a difference to our social enterprise in these difficult times and help towards our running expenses’.

Stephen Jempson said ‘The Jempson Foundation was established to extend our support to the local community where we operate our supermarkets and cafe’s’. He continued ‘It gives us tremendous pleasure to make this donation’.

With the Wedding Season approaching, why not treat yourself and your intended to one of our bespoke Wedding Cakes, made and prepared in-store by our highly qualified and experienced cake designer Julie, who will personally guide you through the bewildering decisions of ‘chocolate or fruit’, and ‘how many tiers?’

Your exquisite and distinctive cake will be individually designed around you and your requirements, and Julie’s meticulous attention to detail will ensure that your cake will be one less thing that you will need to worry about on your ‘big day’.

Fresh and Frozen Burger Statement

The media is full of the issues relating to selected brands of fresh and frozen beef burgers containing horsemeat.

Jempson’s DO NOT supply or stock any of the products that have been listed as positive.

Jempson’s own label fresh and frozen beef burgers are homemade in-store by our butchers using 100% beef which has been sourced locally when and where possible, to ensure its quality and traceability.

          

 

New LED Lighting Range from Duracell

Available now in our Peasmarsh Superstore, new LED energy saving lamps from leading brand Duracell.

Our comprehensive range offers dimmable solutions in the latest LED and Eco Halogen technologies.

Duracell have produced a quality range designed primarily to reduce energy and save households money – up to 85% Energy Saving when compared against incandescent lamps.

LED (or given their full name Light Emitting Diode) lights are the future of home lighting.

Installing LED Lighting saves energy, can last up to 50,000 hours, produce a much brighter cleaner light and are also Eco-friendly !

Traditional Sausages Receive Accolade in National Competition

Butchers from our Peasmarsh Superstore entered their homemade traditional G.T. Jempson recipe sausages into the ‘British Sausage Week’ National Competition and received a Gold Award.

British Sausage Week takes place between the 5^th – 11^th November, and has been highlighting the quality and variety of one of Britain’s favourite dishes since 1997.

Dave Masters head of Butchery said ‘We entered our Traditional G.T.J. Sausage after finding the original recipe used by our founder amongst some of the Jempson family archives. We are honoured that this has been rated highly amongst the judges to win a gold award in this UK-wide competition’. He continued ‘We produce a dozen different types of sausage  and the quality of the produce we use has always been the most important thing for us. We are an independent family-run supermarket so it’s fantastic for us to receive this recognition at a national level’.

Andrew Jempson said ‘This competition is run by the British Sausage Appreciation Society in advance of British Sausage Week, it is a tremendous achievement for Dave and his team, we have a fantastic range of quality homemade sausages in-store, and I am delighted that one made from a recipe used by my Grandfather had scored so highly’.

We will be sampling some of the range of sausages, including our G.T.J. Traditional in-store throughout British Sausage Week.

Foundation Donation to Hawkhurst CEP School

Our charitable Foundation donated £250 to Hawkhurst Church of England Primary School towards their Grand Fireworks Display which is being held at the school on Wednesday 31st October.

Hawkhurst Jempson’s Budgens store manager Carl Anderson and colleagues were treated to an assembly before presenting a cheque to representatives from the school council.

Carl Anderson said ‘We where delighted to be invited by Head Teacher Mrs Hatcher & Theresa Hughes the school’s secretary to attend their assembly, and it is our absolute pleasure to offer our support to their fireworks display, we wish them every success with their event’.
