English Food & Drink Fortnight

ENGLAND

A Taste Of England – 18th September-3rd October 2010

The biggest national celebration of the diverse & delicious range of food & drink that England produces.

The aim of the campaign is to increase awareness of the health benefits - & pleasures – of eating quality, fresh, seasonal & regional produce, and it is the perfect opportunity to sample the very best of what England has to offer.

Choosing English means supporting British farmers whose work helps to keep the countryside the way we want it to look: no sheep or cows = no countryside !

English food also travels less far from farm to shop so it has a lower carbon footprint.

Our English products are all highlighted on the shelves with red & white livery – so LOOK OUT FOR THE SIGNS and BUY the best food and drinks that are made in ENGLAND !

We are delighted to announce that we will be one of the sponsors of this year’s Rye Arts Festival.

Rye Arts Festival is an exciting menu of cultural events packed into two weeks from 11th September to the 26th.

This years event promises to be as exciting as ever, and offers something for everyone, from classical music to films, folk and World music to art exhibitions, and dancing to literary talks and much more besides, and it gives us great pleasure to be able to offer support to what we believe will be a very successful festival.

We will be hosting our own Cider Festival throughout September where you can taste a whole host of different cider varieties including the new popular added fruits flavours.

A big display will be found in the Fresh Fruit section amongst the apples !

There will be special tasting days, and our local Biddenden Cider will be featured and a member of the team from Biddenden Vineyards will be visiting the Peasmarsh Superstore.

To coincide with the festival and all things apple related, all of our fresh food departments will be getting involved too, from the Delicatessen we will be launching a new apple flavoured ham, from the butchery sausages with apple and there will even be a special apple flavoured bread !
