Blister Pack Recycling Service

In an effort to reduce environmental waste and support local recycling initiatives, Jempson’s Peasmarsh Pharmacy has launched a Blister Pack Recycling service, available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the pharmacy counter.

The program allows customers to responsibly dispose of empty medicinal blister packs, which are often composed of mixed materials and difficult to recycle through traditional municipal systems. By separating this waste stream, Jempson’s and its recycling partner ReFactory aim to divert substantial amounts of single-use plastic from landfills.

To participate, customers are reminded to ensure that all blister packs are completely empty before dropping them into the designated recycling box. Packaging that contains unused medication or residue cannot be processed and may contaminate the recycling batch.

The service is part of our broader effort to increase sustainability and engage residents in hands-on environmental stewardship. ReFactory, which supplies the collection boxes, specializes in hard-to-recycle plastics and works with pharmacies and retailers nationwide to improve recycling access for health-related packaging.

Pharmacy staff are available to answer questions and guide users on proper disposal practices. The recycling box is prominently located at the pharmacy counter inside Jempson’s Peasmarsh.

For more information about the initiative or other pharmacy services, customers are encouraged to visit in store or contact the pharmacy directly.
