Support Poppy’s fundraiser for Bowel Cancer UK

On November 30th Poppy, a Jempson’s colleague is taking part in a UWCB boxing event to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK in memory of her dad.

In 2021 The backbone of the family Poppy’s father got diagnosed with bowel cancer. For two years he went through long hospital stays, multiple operations, a stoma bag, and rounds of chemotherapy.

For a while, chemotherapy helped and shrunk her dad’s tumour, but unfortunately, the chemotherapy hit my dad’s body hard and this led to infections and kidney failure. Being off chemo meant the cancer grew back and it became more aggressive. Her father fought his fight with every part of him and he always held onto hope but sadly passed away at the age of 42 on the 1st July 2023.

Poppy’s Dad was a huge fan of boxing, and also a big participant in fundraising, setting up his own fundraising day whilst battling cancer to raise money for the hospital wards that treated him.

Poppy said of the event and her father:

“He was an inspiration not only to myself but to many other people too!

My dad was always my biggest supporter in everything I did, and that’s why this event is so personal to me. I have never boxed before and will undergo only 8 weeks of training before the event.

No fight with cancer should ever be a fight fought alone. So please join this fight with me by donating, no amount is too small and any donation can make a difference!”

We pay our respects to Cymon Taylor who sadly passed away at the age of 35

Today we pay our respects to Cymon Taylor who has sadly passed away at the age of 35.

Cymon worked for us for a number of years and was a highly valued member of the Jempson’s family.

We would like to pay our respects to the loving father and husband and offer our condolences to his family. Unfortunately there was an element of uncertainty as to the cause of his death as the autopsy showed no results. The family has now opened an investigation and has sent any relevant findings to a specialist to be examined. This could take a minimum of 3 months but could take up to a year.

The family was given the option to wait and not hold a funeral until the investigation was finished but quite understandably, they didn’t want to wait for what could be as long as a year to honour his life. Therefore, the funeral is set to go ahead on the 28th of this month. Should you wish to pay your respects the service will be held at St Mary’s Church in Rye. The burial will then take place at the Rye cemetery.

A GoFundMe page has been created by Ferry Road Nursery where his wife Rebekah works, to support her and her kids. Any donations you could make to support Rebekah and her family would be greatly appreciated. The loss of Cymon has not only made a massive emotional impact on the family but has also had a huge impact on the family’s financial situation.

Rebekah left a heartfelt message after this sad loss

“I can’t believe I’m writing this, but yesterday our family lost the most incredible man. The sudden loss of Cymon has shattered our world, things will never be the same again. Anyone that knew Cymon knows the kind of man he was, devoted to his little girls, hard working with a personality that just drew people in.

He really was the most fantastic father, protector and fixer of everything!

Sleep tight my love. This isn’t goodbye…just till we meet again.”

Rest In Peace

Cymon Taylor

Northiam Bonfire Society’s (NBS) Dog Show and Midsummer Festival!

The Jempson Foundation was proud to donate to the Northiam Bonfire Society’s (NBS) Dog Show and Midsummer Festival!

We have sponsored the dog show for the past 2 years and this marks our 3rd year. The Midsummer Festival is just one of the many fundraising events organized by NBS throughout the year. The show saw a demonstration of The Guide Dogs For The Blind during which the donation was showcased. NBS has also donated to many good causes such as The Northiam Village Club and Honey Bees Nursery, we hope our donation can help them in their endeavours.

We are pleased to announce our donation to Beckley Gardening Club

Beckley Gardening Club

Beckley CE Primary School have started a gardening club to inspire their children to grow their own food and flowers. The donation will provide tools for the pupils who hope to create a wild flower meadow to attract bees and insects which are vital for the sustainability of our planet. The anticipation is that this will encourage children to get into gardening at home and hopefully our donation will help inspire them to do so.

“Thank you to the Jempson Foundation for your generous contribution for Beckley School’s gardening club. We will use the money to purchase new equipment and inspire future horticulturists.” – Beckley CE Primary School
