Values

Stewardship:

We believe that the skills of the people, the technology, and the capital in this business form a unique, integrated, and sustainable system that deserves careful stewardship.

Fairness:

We believe in treating others with fairness and respect. In our relations with employees, distributors, suppliers, and customers, fair and equitable treatment is a primary concern.

Dependable Value:

We expend every effort to design our production, distribution and promotion processes to provide consistency of product and dependable value.

Balance:

We are sensitive to employee needs for maintaining a healthy balance between their work and personal lives. The loyalty, effort, and dedication our employees demonstrate results in a highly productive organization.

Continuous Improvement:

We will continually listen, learn and pursue opportunities for constructive change. We use tools like mystery shopping to make sure our customers receive service second to none.

Supporting Our Community:

We also aim to help and support our local community with our charitable donations through the Jempson Foundation where we regularly donate to local causes and food banks such as Rye, Battle and Bexhill.

Family Statement:

The Jempson family is grateful for the providence of God in our continued success and strives to implement Christian beliefs in the conduct of business. Since our founder and grandfather George  Jempson commenced trading in 1935 from his small bakery we have never opened our stores on a Sunday. It has been set aside for our colleagues and us to rest and worship if they choose. So when the lights go out on a Saturday evening it is not just about being ‘closed’ but looking after ourselves by resting before the coming week and spending quality time with family and friends. We should always remember and be grateful to those who cannot rest on a Sunday to provide vital services such as doctors, nurses, the Police, carers for the elderly and the Armed Forces, to name but a few.

Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made under s.54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 for Jempsons Super Market Ltd (“Jempson’s Ltd”) and sets out the steps that Jempson’s Ltd has taken and will continue to take, to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.

We plan to:

  • Continue operating as a family-owned business.
  • Achieve continuing growth.
  • Provide meaningful and secure employment for those who work with us.
  • Glorify God through our work.
