Donations to Rye Food Bank hits £30,000!

We’ve now hit a grand total of £30,000 of donations to Rye Food Bank!

Donation to Rye South Undercliff Allotment Group

The Jempson Foundation recently made a donation to Rye South Undercliff Allotment Group to support the purchase of water dip tanks to improve access to water for elderly and less mobile members.

Sally Savory said, “We would like to thank The Jempson Foundation for their support. The donation is so gratefully received. Provision of additional water sources will improve plot holders ability to cultivate their plots, thereby enhancing harvests, benefiting families and older members financially and in improved health. Plot holders will also have additional produce to donate to Rye Food Bank – a scheme that has been well supported this year. Thank you, this donation will make a real difference.”

Donation to Playden WI Hall

 

The Jempson Foundation recently made a donation to Playden WI for essential maintenance work to ensure the hall is weatherproof and a safe environment for local users.

Margaret Holbrook said, “We would like to thank The Jempson Foundation for their support. The donation is so gratefully received. We hope that the works will allow for local community groups to hire the hall and encourage Martial Arts, Yoga groups, Tiny Tots, Camera Club, WI meetings and wedding & birthday celebrations to use the facility. Thank you, this donation will make a real difference.”

James Martin Cooks up a Storm at Peasmarsh

The much-loved Saturday Morning Chef and television personality James Martin hosted three cookery demonstrations at our Peasmarsh Superstore on Friday 1st October.

The sold-out event was a resounding success, seeing the chef cooking recipes from a number of his books, Barnsley lamb chops with onion squash, pumpkin gnocchi and crispy sage, sirloin steak with Roscoff onions and miso butter, crab beignets with lemon mayonnaise and waffles with pecan and maple butter, he then signed copies of his book ‘Islands to Highlands’ as well as the brand new ‘Butter’.

Stephen Jempson said ‘It was a genuine pleasure to welcome James back again to the store, we hope that our guests thoroughly enjoyed their evening, it certainly looked as though they did, we would like to thank them for coming as well as our event partners, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, McDougalls Flour, Lurpak Butter, Hardy’s Wine and Peroni Italia for their support’. He continued ‘We have already booked two celebrity chef’s for next year’s ‘Meet the Expert’ events in June and December, our customers are in for a treat, we look forward to announcing them soon!

 

Bank Holiday Charity Boot Fairs – A Bumper Success

Our Peasmarsh Superstore played host to a number of Bank Holiday Charity Boot Fairs, with this year’s proving very popular, which in turn helped to raise a significant amount of money for local good causes.

This year’s car boots attracted hordes of sellers and enthusiastic bargain hunters, with over £1,300’s being raised.

All the money from the sales of pitches and collections on the day, were donated to Rye & District Community Transport, Rye & District Day Centre and Rye Hospital. The Easter Monday event was called off due to Covid-19 Lockdown restrictions.

Stephen Jempson said ‘Our Boot Fairs are a well-established event in the Jempson’s calendar. We take great pleasure in offering our services for the benefit of local good causes and the community over-all. Thank you to everyone who attended. We look forward to welcoming even more traders and bargain hunters to next year’s Bank Holiday events’

Donation to Battle Town Football Club Runners

The Jempson Foundation recently made a donation to Battle Town Football Club Runners, to go towards essential equipment and emergency First Aid Training.

Esther Dunn said, “We would like to thank The Jempson Foundation for their support. The donation is so gratefully received. In order to ensure the safety of our club members we would like to train our volunteer coaches in emergency First Aid. We are committed to supporting local people who are not active. We have seen increased numbers in this group and participants have benefitted from improved mental health and improved physical health and fitness. Thank you, this donation will make a real difference.”

Donation to The Jempson Foundation Hardship Fund – Rye Food Bank

A longstanding customer made the excellent suggestion that in this time of need, customers be given the opportunity to hand their individual SavaClub COUPONS into Customer Services at Peasmarsh store with all proceeds being donated to The Jempson Foundation Hardship fund. This amazing act of generosity, along with Rye & Battle Food Bank Donations has raised an amazing £4,000.00 taking the TOTAL raised to date to over £24,000.00!!!

Donation to Ninfield Health & Well-being

The Jempson Foundation recently made a donation to Ninfield Health & Well-being, to go towards their Musical Matinees.

Jackie Langley said, “We would like to thank The Jempson Foundation for their support. The donation is so gratefully received. I run our Musical Matinees that are dementia and heard of hearing friendly. These afternoons are free and open to all. Our audience comes largely from the Ninfield and Bexhill area and we reply on donations to pay for our license, hall hire and refreshments. Thank you, this donation will make a real difference.”

Donation to Sensory Soft Play

The Jempson Foundation recently made a donation to Sensory Soft Play, to go towards their refurbishment project of the Community Hub.

Lisa Henderson said, “We would like to thank The Jempson Foundation for their support. The donation is so gratefully received. Sensory Soft Play are aiming to relieve the needs of children and their families (primarily but not exclusively), with additional needs in Hastings and the surrounding area through the provision of multi-sensory soft play activities. We know that many carers feel very isolated which impacts their mental health so this supports parents and carers within the local community.  Thank you, this donation will make a real difference.”

Donation to Beulah Baptist Church

The Jempson Foundation recently made a donation to Beulah Baptish Church, to go towards the replacement of their community room roof.

Paul Hellyer said, “We would like to thank The Jempson Foundation for their support. The donation is so gratefully received. With closure of other churches, community spaces are decreasing in number in central Bexhill. When lockdown ends, we will restart day center, toddlers and youth work and also continue with meals. Recently we provided short term emergency refuge for local residents evacuated from sheltered housing. Thank you, this donation will make a real difference.”
