The Rye Bakery is an independent family-owned bakery established in 1989. We operate cafés in Bexhill-on-Sea, Hawkhurst and Ore as well as a bakery and wholesale bread business in Peasmarsh, Near Rye.

The Role:

As an Apprentice Night Baker, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and production of high-quality baked goods for our customers. Working under the supervision of experienced bakers, you will learn the art and science of baking during the night shift. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced bakery environment. Full training will be provided to successful candidates.

Baker Duties & Responsibilities

• Monitoring the standard of ingredients

• Preparing the ovens and equipment

• Measuring and weighing wet and dry ingredients

• Using mixers to blend the ingredients

• Following procedures for dough rising and resting

• Kneading and shaping the dough

• Baking items in ovens or grills and setting timers

• Crafting and creating new and exciting baked goods

• Packaging and arranging baked good for shop opening

• Ordering more supplies

• Maintain daily logs & HACCPS sheet throughout each shift

• Maintain compliance with all Jempson’s company policies and procedures
